I WILL PRAISE YOU IN THIS STORM

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, not that anyone even pays attention to this thing.. I have had a lot go on in my life here lately and it hasn't been easy.

Friday April 8, 2011:
Got up went to work and after work my mom, dad, and brother took me and Jake to the seafood buffet at Sam's Town for our birthdays *I LOVE CRABLEGS* (and don't worry you don't have to go through the casino to get to the restaurants)
Jake and I had talked about it and we had decided to stay the night at my parents since I had to meet someone in Coldwater early Saturday morning and after that we were supposed to go take pictures.
It was a fantastic night, everyone joked and laughed and we reminisced about times in the past.

Saturday April 9, 2011:
I heard my dad leave out on his motorcycle at 7:30; him and his friends were heading to Alabama. They usually ride every weekend. I got up at 8 and went to Coldwater, came back home and went to sleep.
At 11 I heard someone come in the house, it was one of my dad's friends wife and daughter. My dad had a motorcycle wreck and no one knew our number. We didn't know the status we just knew he went off the road. My family loaded up and made a 3 hour nerve wrecking drive. As we got closer I started getting texts that made me nervous and started getting anxious that we weren't hearing any updates.
His friends asked us to meet them and follow them to the hospital, I also thought it was weird they weren't at the hospital.
When we finally arrived to the hospital, one of his friends took my mom and another was standing waiting on me. I got out of the car and asked a question to which I'll never forget the answer to, "Is he okay?" The response, "No baby, he's not okay." He had a heart-attack while doing what he loved - riding his motorcycle.

On April 9, 2011 around 11:15 a.m my daddy left this temporary home and entered the wonderful streets of Heaven.

This has been the most difficult, heart-wrenching time of mine and my family's lives. But I can see how God has worked to prepare me for this. So let me show you how GOOD God is:
1. Jake and I had planned on getting married in July. A job opportunity turned up and Jake and I were able to get married in March. -God knew how much it meant to me for my daddy to walk me down the aisle and see me get married.
2. We had debated on going to eat Friday or Saturday for mine and Jake's birthday and had decided for Friday. -God knew that we would need this final night of wonderful, sweet family time.
3. We stayed the night at my parents Friday night. -God knew that the next morning we would all need to be together.
4. When Jake was younger his step-dad was killed. -God knew that my family would need a family who knew this pain to help us deal with it.
and Finally and most importantly. -God knew I would need a husband who would support, comfort, and love me in a way that no one else could.

I'm sad because I will miss being able to talk to and spend time with daddy and he won't be around for other things in my life, but it's easier because I have a peace knowing my daddy was saved and I will see him again one day.
I know that if this would have happened a few years ago when I was in a different place with my relationship with the Lord, I would have turned my back on God; I would have been angry at God. God prepared me for this day and he has made me strong and I am only going to get stronger.

Please continue to pray for me and my family.
God is good and Satan will not get delight out of my sufferings!

Ready for the weekend!

20 days of being married down and the rest of my life to go :)
...AND the weekend is finally here!

Before Jake and I got married we agreed to set out a meal plan for the week so at the beginning of the week we can buy groceries. Here was our meal plan for this past week:

Monday: Hamburger steaks, mashed potatoes, and cornbread (I snuck in from class and made the entire meal while Jake was napping without waking him! Pretty good huh?)
Tuesday: Poppyseed chicken and macaroni
Wednesday: Corndogs (this is our quick night since I have class and then we have church)
Thursday: Chicken Quesadillas
Friday: Chicken Pot Pie
I didn't realize it when I made the menu out, but our whole week was pretty much chicken..I'll be sure to fix that next time.

So here is our experiment with chicken pot pie..we've never made it before.
The combination process:
Before baking it:
The finished product:

It was pretty good, but needs a few tweaks. Next time not so much milk and crisp the bottom pie crust first. Then it will be super delish!

Oh and I want to show everyone these great cookbooks I found this week...I'm super excited to start trying some recipes out of them! These are the ones I bought for 9.99 each (I had a gift card) But if you click on the first picture it takes you to their website and there are so many to choose from!

Yay I now have a BLOG!

Okay now that I have finally, successfully created a blog, I feel like I am caught up in the world of technology. It seems like when you get married or you are planning a wedding you are supposed to create a blog. I definitely didn't have time when I was planning a wedding so I thought I'd get started now :)

So just in case anyone wanted to know Jake and I have been married now for a grand total of 19 Days!
It's been an adventure to say the least! But I am loving every minute of this life that God has blessed me with and I am excited to see His plans for us.

I am going to try to keep this thing updated as much as I can just in case anyone wants to know. But I am off to write overdue thank you notes. Sorry if you haven't gotten yours yet!

Oh ...we get our wedding pictures this weekend!! So I will definitely be posting those ASAP!
